Center for Finance Holds SME Training: Strengthening Financial Capacities and Project Preparation Under the MontEDIH Project

On October 29, 2026, as part of the MontEDIH project, the Center for Finance held a practical training session designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking to improve their business operations through digitalization, innovation, procurement of new equipment, and implementation of development investments.

The training focused on providing concrete knowledge and guidelines to help enterprises identify suitable grant support programs, evaluate financing opportunities for their business ideas, and prepare project proposals more successfully.

During the training, lecturer Ilija Mugoša from the Center for Finance presented the key steps involved in identifying and selecting appropriate grant calls, verifying eligibility requirements, and aligning specific corporate needs with available funding sources. Special emphasis was placed on project idea preparation, budget planning, and gathering the required documentation, as well as addressing the most common challenges enterprises face when applying.

Participants had the opportunity to learn about current national and international support programs for SMEs, supported by practical examples and guidelines for higher-quality project proposal preparation. The goal of the training was to bring available financing opportunities closer to enterprises and help them make informed decisions regarding investments in development, digital transformation, and competitiveness enhancement.

The training was delivered within the framework of the MontEDIH project, through which the Center for Finance provides support to small and medium-sized enterprises in strengthening financial capacities, planning investments, and utilizing available support instruments for digital transformation and business development.

The MontEDIH project is coordinated by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Montenegro. In addition to the Center for Finance, the consortium consists of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, the Institute of Modern Technologies Montenegro, the University of Donja Gorica, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis – Nikšić, the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, and ICT Cortex.

The total budget of the project is two million euros. The European Union funds 50% of the budget through the Digital Europe programme, the Government of Montenegro provides 45% through co-financing, while the remaining 5% is contributed by the partner institutions.

Through the MontEDIH project and the execution of such activities, the Center for Finance continues to contribute to enhancing the financial readiness of enterprises, improving their awareness of available support programs, and strengthening their capacities for digital transformation, innovation, and sustainable business development.
